Lomo CT-12 - mechanical XY cross mechanism for microscope stage ST-12
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
An XY cross stage is used for precise manipulation of a slide with a specimen on the microscope stage.
The basic versions of the Lomo Biolam and MBI-
...
1 microscopes have simple microscope stages with grips for holding the specimen. Therefore, at magnifications above 400x, manually manipulating the slide with the specimen becomes very difficult. XY cross stages are used for this purpose, for example, to move the specimen very precisely at 900x magnification with oil immersion.
This is not a cheap plastic cross stage - it is a well-made Lomo design, very popular on the used microscope market.
NOTE - if the mounting pin spacing matches, this cross stage can be mounted on stages from virtually any manufacturer.

Lomo Apo-WI 60x 1,0 D=0 L microscope objective (apochromat, fluorescence water immersion, no cover glass RMS 60x / 1975)
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Apochromatic RMS microscope objective with 60x magnification, very high numerical aperture, designed for use without a cover slip, with water immersion and improved
...
correction for fluorescence illumination.
Manufacturer: Lomo Model: APO-WI 60x1.0 D=0 L Magnification: 60x Numerical aperture: 1.0 Correction: Apochromat + fluorescence Tube length: 160 mm (?) Focal length: 33 mm (?) Immersion: water Cover slip: no (!) Marking: "L" = luminescence Marking: "D=0" = use without cover slip Thread: RMS Year of manufacture: 1975
Apochromatic objectives are known for exceptional color fidelity, significantly better than achromatic objectives.
This objective is extremely rare on the secondary market and highly professional. Key features: - Water immersion is preferred by many users over oil immersion - Very high numerical aperture (1.0) provides high-resolution images - Use without cover slip allows, for example, direct placement of the objective inside a droplet with the sample to be observed
Despite the "L" marking, the objective can also be used with normal transmitted light illumination.
Lomo objectives marked "L" (luminescence) differ from those without this symbol by: - Improved UV and blue light transmission - Lower autofluorescence of the glass - No or reduced use of organic adhesives in the optical assembly

Lomo Biolam / MBB-1A KOH-3 microscope condenser | Abbe KON-3 N.A. 1,2 with iris diaphragm
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Lomo microscope condenser with a numerical aperture of 1.2.
In the manufacturer's catalog this condenser is designated as KOH-3. This is a Cyrillic notation,
...
where the letter "H" corresponds to the Latin "N". This means that the model name written in the Latin alphabet is KON-3, where "KON" is simply an abbreviation of the word condenser.
Basic data: - Element: Abbe microscope condenser - Manufacturer: Lomo - Manufacturer designation: KOH-3 - Numerical aperture: 1.2 - Numerical aperture with top lens removed: 0.3 - Mounting diameter: 37 mm - Iris diaphragm: YES - Wide-field lens: YES, with the possibility of moving it into / out of the light path - filter holder: YES
This condenser also fits microscopes from other manufacturers (e.g. Meopta, Olympus, Carl Zeiss Jena and many others) with a 37 mm condenser mount.
Important: Although the mounting diameter of the KOH-3 condenser is 37 mm, the top lens slightly protrudes beyond the condenser body. For this reason, in some cases installation requires the following steps: - unscrew the top lens - install the condenser in the holder - screw the top lens back in
Note: If you use this condenser with a microscope from a manufacturer other than Lomo, please note that: - the filter holder is designed for filters with a diameter of 33 mm - while most manufacturers use the 32 mm standard diameter As a result, 32 mm filters cannot be used in the KOH-3 condenser without modification - they simply fall out because the holder diameter is too large.

Carl Zeiss Jena Lumipan / Lg microscope rotating stage | Lomo MBR-3 / Biolam
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Round, brass, rotating microscope stage by Carl Zeiss Jena.
Basic technical data: - shape: round stage - rotation: yes - rotation locking screw: yes -
...
micrometer scale: no - dedicated for polarization: no - material: brass - mounting diameter: 71 mm
This stage fits the following microscopes: - Carl Zeiss Jena L-Stativ - Carl Zeiss Jena Lg - Carl Zeiss Jena Lu - Carl Zeiss Jena Lr - Carl Zeiss Jena Lumipan
This Carl Zeiss Jena stage also fits microscopes: - Lomo MBI-1 - Lomo MBR-3 - Lomo Biolam - Lomo sold under the names Bresser and Zenith
If any of the above microscopes currently has a fixed stage (screwed), it is possible to retrofit a holder for interchangeable stages ( like this: https://www.microscopeparts.eu/part/99175) - this applies to both Carl Zeiss Jena and Lomo microscopes.
From the 1930s to approximately the mid-1960s many German manufacturers produced microscopes with the same stage mounting standard, so this stage will also fit them.
How does compatibility of stages between Carl Zeiss Jena and Lomo microscopes work? - Carl Zeiss Jena stages for L-Stativ microscopes have a mounting diameter of 71 mm - Lomo stages for MBR-3 / MBI-1 microscopes have a mounting diameter of 73 mm - The spring-loaded front screw and long side centering screws in the mounting holder compensate for these differences - Carl Zeiss Jena stages are more solid, heavier, made of brass - Lomo stages are lighter, made of aluminium with plastic elements
Note that although this is a round and rotating stage, it is not a polarizing stage. It does not have a micrometer scale to read how many degrees (0-360) the rotation has occurred. Without this scale it can of course be used for amateur observations in polarized light, however for professional applications this is disqualifying.

Carl Zeiss Jena Nf / Lumipan 5-pos. RMS matte microscope objective revolver | Lomo Biolam compatible
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Matte, black, 5-position Carl Zeiss Jena objective turret for Lumipan, Nf, Ng, Lg, and other microscopes.
Why is it a must-have?
Vintage,
...
black Carl Zeiss Jena microscopes - Nf - Ng - Lg - Lr - Lu - Lumipan
as well as newer, gray Carl Zeiss Jena - Ergaval - Amplival - Fluoval - Epival - Interphako - Vertival - and other variants
and - Lomo Biolam - Bresser Biolam - Lomo MBB-1A - Lomo MBI-1 - Lomo MBR-3 - and some IOR Bucuresti
have an interchangeable objective turret.
This is an excellent solution for owning, using, and quickly replacing entire sets of objectives.
For example, you can have separate turrets already equipped with a complete set of objectives: - low magnification for observing macro objects with side illumination, without a cover glass (e.g., 2.5x / 3.2x / 5x / 8x / 10x) - for phase contrast - for various phase contrasts (positive, anoptral, amplitude, Zernike) - for DIC - for water immersion (e.g., Lomo) - all for oil immersion (e.g., Leitz 10x Oil / 25x Oil / 40x Oil / 100x Oil) - apochromatic for better color - for polarization - only high magnifications, e.g., for analyzing cell wall ornamentation (50x / 63x / 80x / 100x) - for darkfield work (objectives with an iris diaphragm in the center)
Therefore, having only one microscope we can use it for different purposes and not screw in and unscrew all the lenses manually each time.
This is the newest, matte version of the objective revolver. If you're looking for the glossy version, see here: https://www.microscopeparts.eu/00736.

A0,3 top lens for Lomo OI-14 oblique light DIC-like microscope condenser
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Top lens with low numerical aperture A 0.3 for the Lomo OI-14 oblique light condenser.
Note: the designation OI-14 is written in the Latin alphabet.
...
On the condenser, the model name is written in Cyrillic and looks similar to ON-14.
The Lomo OI-14 condenser has a removable (unscrewable) top lens: - A1.4 with high aperture, for use with objectives with high numerical aperture (which corresponds to high magnifications, it can be assumed above 40x) - A0.3 with low aperture, for use with low magnification objectives
Although it is possible to work with low magnification objectives (e.g. 5x or 10x) using a condenser with the A1.4 lens installed - the image is too "sharp" and contrasty. In this case, replacing the lens with A0.3 allows obtaining a pastel, soft and visually pleasant image.
Since the Lomo OI-14 condenser has been produced since the 1960s, over the years this additional lens has very often been lost and most condensers available on the secondary market have only one - most often A1.4.
The Lomo OI-14 condenser has a mounting diameter of 37 mm, but since it is very popular among microscope users, an extension ring is often used, allowing it to be mounted in microscopes with a 39.5 mm condenser holder. This condenser fits microscopes from various manufacturers: Lomo, PZO, Zeiss, Carl Zeiss Jena, Meopta, IOR, Olympus, ROW, Nikon, Leitz Wetzlar and many others.

Lomo 20 0,40 P polarization microscope objective with pol RMS objective adapter
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Lomo microscope objective for polarization. The objective was manufactured at the Progress factory - therefore it has a different logo than standard Lomo objectives.
...
Manufacturer: Lomo Magnification: 20x Model: 20 0.40 P Numerical aperture: 0.40 Tube length: 160 mm Focal length: 33 mm Cover glass: yes, 0.17 mm Thread: RMS + Pol adapter Info: P = Polarization
This is an objective designed for transmitted light work with a cover glass.
The RMS thread objective is mounted on a dedicated slide-in adapter that allows it to be used in Lomo MIN series and Lomo Polam series microscopes. Of course, the objective can be unscrewed and another objective can be mounted in the adapter.
The objective itself, once removed from the adapter, is a standard objective that can be used in virtually any microscope with an RMS thread. It is a so-called "short objective" (focal length 33 mm). When a 12 mm adapter is added, the total length becomes 45 mm, allowing it to be used with newer microscopes from any manufacturer.
Lomo polarization objectives with RMS thread can be installed in an RMS-M27 adapter and then used in microscopes such as Lomo Biolam M, Lomo Biolam I, Lomo Lumam, or Lomo ML-2. I have also frequently seen such objectives used in Zeiss Axio series microscopes with M27 thread.
The Pol adapter also allows precise centering of the objective relative to the entire optical path - this requires tools (keys / tools).
Info: I have repeatedly seen information stating that this RMS-Pol adapter is compatible with Leitz Wetzlar polarization microscopes - however, I have not personally verified this.
In summary, this objective is dedicated to Lomo MIN-1, MIN-4, MIN-5, MIN-6, MIN-8, Lomo Polam R-113, Polam L-211, Polam L-213, Polam R-311, Polam LMPR microscopes - but it is practically compatible with any microscope from any manufacturer that supports 160 mm objectives.

Lomo Plan 9x 0,20 P polarization microscope objective with pol RMS objective adapter | macro photography
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Lomo microscope objective for polarization. The objective was manufactured at the Progress factory - therefore it has a different logo than standard Lomo objectives.
...
Note - this model of microscope objective is very often used for macro photography and focus stacking. More information on this can be found at the end of this description.
Manufacturer: Lomo Magnification: 9x Model: PLANACHR 9x0.20 P Numerical aperture: 0.20 Optical correction: planachromatic (flat field) Tube length: 160 mm Focal length: 33 mm Cover glass: optional, can be used but is not required Thread: RMS + Pol adapter Info: P = Polarization
The RMS thread objective is mounted on a dedicated slide-in adapter that allows it to be used in Lomo MIN series and Lomo Polam series microscopes. Of course, the objective can be unscrewed and another objective can be mounted into the adapter.
Additionally, this objective is very often used for macro photography even without a microscope. This objective does not require a cover glass and works in the "direct-projection" technique, meaning it can be connected directly to a camera without additional optics. This allows achieving a very high magnification scale and great depth of field across the entire image when using focus stacking. The fact that this is a polarization objective (i.e. stress-free optics without internal glass tensions) further improves image quality at high magnifications.

PZO 5/0.15 microscope objective 5x for macro photography | for Carl Zeiss Jena and Lomo Biolam
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
PZO microscope objective 5/0.15 - a model used in microscopes, but also very often used for macro photography.
Basic technical parameters: - Manufacturer: PZO
...
Poland - Model: 5/0.15 160/- - Alternative model marking: 5/0.15 160/0 - Magnification: 5x - Numerical aperture N.A.: 0.15 - Correction: achromatic - Focal length FL: 33 mm - Tube length: 160 mm - Cover glass: not required, but may be used - Immersion: no (dry objective) - Thread: RMS
This model has a metal housing with no lens at its end. Additionally, this housing can be unscrewed without affecting the operation of the objective - resulting in a relatively large working distance of more than 20 mm.
Three features: - large working distance exceeding 20 mm - exceptionally high numerical aperture N.A. of 0.15 - achromatic correction allowing direct projection use make this relatively uncommon model very frequently chosen for macro photography using a microscope objective connected to a camera (focus stacking).
The fact that this objective has FL = 33 mm allows it to be used with microscopes from other manufacturers, including: - Lomo Biolam - Lomo MBB-1A - Carl Zeiss Jena LG / Lu / Lumipan - Carl Zeiss Jena Nf - Olympus CH
Note! Please note that the FL = 33 mm focal length means that this objective DOES NOT FIT the following microscopes: - PZO Biolar - PZO Studar
Early versions of this objective (with low serial numbers) have the engraved marking 5/0.15 160/0 suggesting that the objective is intended for use without a cover glass. This is true, but more precisely this objective can work both without a cover glass and with one. In newer versions the engraving already reads 5/0.15 160/- where this "minus" already means "indifferent".

|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
20x microscope objective made by Lomo with the LZOS Lytkarino factory logo and a unique "golden" serial number.
Manufacturer: LZOS Lytkarino (commonly,
...
although incorrectly, referred to as "Lomo") Model: 20 0,40 Magnification: 20x Correction: Achromat Numerical aperture: 0.40 Tube length: 160 mm Focal length: 33 mm Cover glass: 0.17 mm Immersion: no Thread: RMS Serial number: 01234
It can be used with any microscope from any manufacturer. Of course, the microscope must be compatible, i.e. support RMS objectives, TL=160 mm and FL=33 mm.
After installing a 12 mm adapter, this combination of adapter and objective will function as an objective with FL=45 mm.
This objective is attractive mainly to collectors because: - there are very few microscope objectives with the LZOS logo on the secondary market - the objective has a so-called "golden serial number": 01234

LOMO 40 0.65 microscope objective 1992 | ЛОМО 40x Biolam and Carl Zeiss Jena Lg compatible
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
LOMO (ЛОМО) microscope objective with 40x magnification, manufactured in Russia in 1992 (already after the dissolution of the USSR).
Basic parameters of this
...
objective: Manufacturer: LOMO, Russia (ЛОМО) Magnification: 40x Numerical aperture N.A.: 0.65 Serial number: starts with "92" Year of manufacture: 1992 Tube length: 160 mm Parfocal length: 33 mm - so-called short barrel objective Cover glass: yes, 0.17 mm thick Immersion: no - this is a dry objective Specimen protection: yes, the objective has a spring-loaded front mount that prevents breaking the slide with the specimen Thread: RMS
Why do I state the year of manufacture in the description of this objective? Older LOMO microscope parts (objectives, microscopes, heads) have the year of manufacture encoded in the serial number: the first two digits of the serial number are the year of manufacture. Many users want to complete their microscope with parts made in the same year as the microscope itself.
This is a so-called short barrel objective with a parfocal length of 33 mm. Very often this objective is mounted on a 12 mm extension, which allows it to be used in microscopes that require objectives with a 45 mm parfocal length. Professional adapters with protective optics, metal adapters and popular DIY 3D-printed adapters all work well here.
Fun fact: LOMO manufactured adapters from the RMS thread to M27. Thanks to them, this objective was used on LOMO Biolam I and LOMO Biolam M microscopes. Users of Carl Zeiss Axio series microscopes with the M27 thread took advantage of this as well and used these adapters too.
LOMO objectives are very popular among users of microscopes from other manufacturers. Because of the historical ties, owners of Carl Zeiss Jena microscopes regard them as a natural replacement for the German objectives.
This objective fits practically any microscope of any manufacturer, as long as it has an RMS thread and takes objectives with a 160 mm tube length and a 33 mm parfocal length (or 37 / 45 mm with a suitable adapter). Several example microscopes are listed in the "Compatibility" section, but this is not a complete list.

LOMO 40 0.65 microscope objective 1973 | ЛОМО 40x Bresser Biolam and Euromex CSL compatible
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
LOMO (ЛОМО) microscope objective with 40x magnification, manufactured in the Soviet Union (CCCP / USSR) in 1973 (i.e. before the dissolution of the USSR).
...
Basic parameters of this objective: Manufacturer: LOMO, (ЛОМО, former Soviet Union) Magnification: 40x Numerical aperture N.A.: 0.65 Serial number: starts with "73" Year of manufacture: 1973 Tube length: 160 mm Parfocal length: 33 mm - so-called short barrel objective Cover glass: yes, 0.17 mm thick Immersion: no - this is a dry objective Specimen protection: yes, the objective has a spring-loaded front mount that prevents breaking the slide with the specimen Thread: RMS

Basic parameters of this objective: Manufacturer: Lomo, Russia (ЛОМО) Magnification: 90x Marking on the objective: МИ 90 1.25 (MI 90 1.25) Numerical aperture N.A.: 1.25 Serial number: starts with "74" Year of manufacture: 1974 Tube length: 160 mm Parfocal length: 33 mm - so-called short barrel objective Cover glass: yes, 0.17 mm thick Immersion: yes, oil Translation: "МИ" stands for "масляная иммерсия", i.e. "oil immersion" Specimen protection: yes, the objective has a spring-loaded front mount that prevents breaking the slide Thread: RMS
Why do I state the year of manufacture in the description of this objective? Older LOMO microscope parts (objectives, microscopes, heads) have the year of manufacture encoded in the serial number: the first two digits of the serial number are the year. Many users want to complete their microscope with parts made in the same year as the microscope itself.
This is a so-called short barrel objective with a parfocal length of 33 mm. It is very often mounted on a 12 mm extension, which allows it to be used in microscopes that require objectives with a 45 mm parfocal length. Professional adapters with protective optics, metal adapters and popular DIY 3D-printed adapters all work well here.
Fun fact: LOMO made adapters between the RMS and M27 threads. Thanks to them, this objective was fitted to the Lomo Biolam I and Lomo Biolam M microscopes. Owners of Carl Zeiss Axio series microscopes with M27 thread also took advantage of this and used these adapters.
LOMO objectives are very popular with owners of microscopes from other manufacturers. Due to historical ties, owners of Carl Zeiss Jena microscopes regard them as an obvious replacement for the German objectives.
This objective fits practically any microscope from any manufacturer, as long as it has an RMS thread and accepts objectives with TL = 160 mm and 33 mm parfocal length (or 37 / 45 mm with a suitable adapter). Several example microscopes are listed in the "compatibility" section, but the list is not complete.

objective (model 8 0.20) is frequently used for macro photography with a microscope or a camera (via an RMS adapter or a bellows). Although it is an achromat, it renders fine detail very sharply and performs well in focus stacking. It complements a set together with the LOMO 3.7x, Carl Zeiss Jena Semiplan 6.3x and Nikon M Plan 10x.
Basic parameters of this objective: Manufacturer: Lomo, USSR (ЛОМО) Magnification: 8x Correction: achromatic Marking on the objective: 8 0.20 Numerical aperture N.A.: 0.20 Serial number: starts with "72" Year of manufacture: 1972 Tube length: 160 mm Parfocal length: 33 mm - so-called short barrel objective Cover glass: not critical - objectives with such low magnification work both with and without a cover glass Immersion: no (dry objective) Thread: RMS
Important - this objective is suitable for direct projection photography, as it does not require plan-compensating optics.
A microscope objective with such low magnification (with a 160 mm tube length it gives an 8:1 reproduction ratio) is used, among other things, for observing or photographing: - insects - minerals - inclusions in amber - handwriting - micro shells (micromollusks) - and much more

LOMO / Bresser Biolam 90x Oil microscope objective A 90*1.25 with RMS thread
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Export version of a LOMO (ЛОМО) oil immersion microscope objective with 90x magnification.
Basic parameters of this objective: Manufacturer: Lomo
...
(ЛОМО) Version: this is the OEM version of this objective; it was made for export and has no engraved manufacturer logo Magnification: 90x Correction: achromatic Marking on the objective: A 90*1.25 Numerical aperture N.A.: 1.25 Tube length: 160 mm Parfocal length: 33 mm - so-called short barrel objective Cover glass: yes, 0.17 mm thick Immersion: yes, oil Specimen protection: yes, the objective has a spring-loaded front mount that prevents breaking the slide Thread: RMS
LOMO exported its microscopes to Western Europe, where they were sold under the names Bresser Biolam / Bresser Erudit (mainly in Germany) and Zenith Biolam (in the UK). These microscopes often (but not always) came with special versions of the objectives without the "ЛОМО" engraving.
Apart from the missing manufacturer name, the export version also differs in the way the parameters are marked. On the LOMO version the marking read "МИ 90 1.25", where "МИ" is an abbreviation written in Cyrillic, corresponding to "MI" and meaning "oil immersion". The export version dropped the Cyrillic (and even the immersion information), and the marking changed to "A 90*1.25".
A note on the Bresser Erudit microscope: Bresser sold two different microscopes under this name. The first was a Lomo microscope labelled "Bresser Erudit", the second is the plastic, Chinese-made "Bresser Erudit DLX" microscope. The microscope objective offered here fits the first of these two Erudit microscopes. A photo gallery of the first model can be found here: https://www.microscopeparts.eu/gallery/lomo-erudit-microscopes-207.

Wild M20 Heerbrugg Fluotar 20 0.60 RMS microscope objective 20x, Switzerland
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Wild Heerbrugg 20x microscope objective from the Wild M20 microscope
Manufacturer: Wild Heerbrugg, Switzerland Model: Fluotar 20 0.60 Magnification:
...
20x Correction: Fluotar (other names: Fluor and fluorite) Numerical aperture N.A.: 0.60 Tube length: 160 mm Parfocal length: 33 mm Cover glass: yes, 0.17 mm thick Immersion: no (dry objective) Thread: RMS
The objective comes in its original protective case marked "Wild Heerbrugg Switzerland".
Fluotar is the name Wild Heerbrugg used for its fluorite objectives, i.e. semi-apochromats - their lenses contain fluorite or glass with similar optical properties. A standard achromat corrects chromatic errors for only two colors (red and blue), so colored fringes may appear along the edges of objects. An apochromat corrects for three colors (red, green and blue) and represents the highest class of correction. The Fluotar sits between them - colored fringes are clearly smaller than with an achromat, although the correction is not as complete as with an apochromat. Fluorite also transmits ultraviolet light well, which is why objectives of this type were used in fluorescence microscopy.
This is a so-called "short barrel" objective with a parfocal length of 33 mm. It is very common to mount this objective on a 12 mm extension, which allows it to be used in microscopes that require 45 mm parfocal objectives. Professional adapters with protective optics, metal adapters and popular DIY 3D-printed adapters all work well for this.
This objective fits practically any microscope from any manufacturer, as long as it has an RMS thread and accepts objectives with TL=160 mm and a parfocal length of 33 mm (or 37 / 45 mm with a suitable adapter). LOMO Biolam 8x microscope objective 8 0.20 RMS for macro photography 1991 | Olympus KHC, Bresser Biolam, ЛОМО and Carl Zeiss Jena Nf compatible
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
LOMO (ЛОМО) microscope objective with low 8x magnification, made in 1991.
The LOMO 8x objective (model 8 0.20) is frequently used for macro photography with a
...
microscope or a camera (via an RMS adapter or a bellows). Although it is an achromat, it renders fine detail very sharply and performs well in focus stacking. It complements a set together with the LOMO 3.7x, Carl Zeiss Jena Semiplan 6.3x and Nikon M Plan 10x.
Basic parameters of this objective: Manufacturer: Lomo, Russia (ЛОМО) Magnification: 8x Correction: achromatic Marking on the objective: 8 0.20 Numerical aperture N.A.: 0.20 Serial number: starts with "91" Year of manufacture: 1991 Tube length: 160 mm Parfocal length: 33 mm - so-called short barrel objective Cover glass: not critical - objectives with such low magnification work both with and without a cover glass Immersion: no (dry objective) Thread: RMS
Important - this objective is suitable for direct projection photography, as it does not require plan-compensating optics.
A microscope objective with such low magnification (with a 160 mm tube length it gives an 8:1 reproduction ratio) is used, among other things, for observing or photographing: - insects - minerals - inclusions in amber - handwriting - micro shells (micromollusks) - and much more
Why do I state the year of manufacture in the description of this objective?

LOMO / Bresser Biolam 40x 0.65 F-2 phase contrast microscope objective 1976 with RMS thread | Carl Zeiss Jena compatible
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
LOMO microscope objective with 40x magnification, intended for second-type phase contrast and for use with the LOMO KF-5 condenser.
Basic parameters of this
...
objective: Manufacturer: Lomo (ЛОМО) Magnification: 40x Correction: achromatic Engraving on the objective: 40 0,65 Ф-2 ЛОМО Numerical aperture N.A.: 0,65 Working distance: 0,55 mm Tube length: 160 mm Parfocal length: 33 mm - a so-called short barrel objective Cover glass: yes, 0,17 mm thick Phase contrast: yes, type F-2 (Ф-2), which means there are two phase rings inside the objective Immersion: no (dry objective, sometimes called an "air immersion" objective) Specimen protection: no, the objective has no spring-loaded mechanism Thread: RMS Work in brightfield without phase contrast: possible, but even the manufacturer states in the manual that the image quality is worse than with an objective without phase rings inside
A very important note: two phase rings inside an objective bring to mind variable phase contrast (PhZ at PZO or PhV at Carl Zeiss Jena). With LOMO, however, this is rather something like a "second type of positive phase contrast". LOMO states in the manual (https://laboratorium.dp.ua/item/68) that one image is obtained when light passes through both rings (with the condenser iris diaphragm open) - and a different one when the diaphragm is closed far enough that light no longer reaches the outer, wide ring and only the inner ring works. The manufacturer recommends viewing the specimen in both modes, because together they give a more reliable idea of its structure. The contrast stays positive (thicker or denser parts of the specimen appear darker against a bright background), and both modes differ from work with the single-ring "Ф" objectives and the LOMO KF-4 condenser (ЛОМО KФ-4), where both the objective and the condenser diaphragm have only one ring. So the resulting effect does change - but this is not variable phase contrast; the change is stepwise (either-or), not continuous.
The objective presented here fits the LOMO KF-5 condenser (ЛОМО KФ-5). That condenser has a mounting diameter of 37 mm and is very often used on microscopes from other makers, among them Carl Zeiss Jena and Olympus (especially Olympus CH). With a suitable build-up ring fitted (3D printed, for example), this condenser is commonly used in microscopes with a 39,5 mm condenser seat as well. The instructions for setting up LOMO KF-5 phase contrast can be found here: https://scopica.ru/proj/ustroystvo-dlya-nablyudeniya-metodom-fazovogo-kontrasta-kf-5/
This is a so-called short barrel objective, with a parfocal length of 33 mm. It is very commonly mounted on a 12 mm extension, which allows it to be used in microscopes that require objectives of 45 mm length. Professional adapters with protective optics, metal adapters and the popular 3D printed DIY solutions all work here.
LOMO objectives are very popular with owners of microscopes from other makers. Because of the historical links, owners of Carl Zeiss Jena microscopes treat them as an obvious substitute for those German objectives.
This objective fits practically any microscope from any maker, provided it has an RMS thread and accepts objectives with TL=160 mm and a parfocal length of 33 mm (or 37 / 45 mm if a suitable adapter is used). A few such microscopes are listed in the "compatibility" section, but that is not a complete list.

Carl Zeiss Jena 8 0,20 160- microscope objective 8x RMS | also for macro photography | Lomo Biolam compatible
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Carl Zeiss Jena microscope objective with a low magnification of 8x.
This is one of many production variants of the 8x objective that were fitted to Carl Zeiss
...
Jena microscopes over nearly 100 years. They differ in the appearance of the barrel and in the engraving.
Appearance of this variant of the Carl Zeiss Jena 8x objective: - black section next to the thread - silver upper section - the marking "8/0,20 160/-" on one side of the silver part of the barrel - the Carl Zeiss Jena logo and the serial number on the other side of the silver barrel
Here (https://www.microscopeparts.eu/part/99852) you will see the same Carl Zeiss Jena 8x objective, but in a slightly older variant (without the value "160/-" engraved on the barrel).
The Carl Zeiss Jena 8x objective is often used for macro photography - both on a microscope and on a camera (with an RMS adapter or a bellows unit). Although it is an achromatic objective, it renders fine detail very well and works nicely for focus stacking. It is a good complement to a set together with the Carl Zeiss Jena Semiplan 3.2x, LOMO 3.7x, Carl Zeiss Jena Semiplan 6.3x and Nikon M Plan 10x objectives.
Basic parameters of this objective: Manufacturer: Carl Zeiss Jena Magnification: 8x Correction: achromatic Marking on the objective: 8/0,20 160/- Numerical aperture N.A.: 0.20 Serial number: above 580 000 Tube length: 160 mm Parfocal length: 33 mm - a so-called short barrel objective Cover glass: either way - objectives with such a low magnification can work both with and without a cover glass Immersion: no (a so-called dry objective) Thread: RMS
Important - this objective is suitable for taking pictures with the "direct-projection" technique, because it does not require plan-compensating optics.
A microscope objective with such a low magnification (keeping the 160 mm tube we get an 8:1 reproduction ratio) is used for observation or macro photography of, among other things: - insects - minerals - inclusions in amber - handwriting - micro shells
Why do I describe the appearance of this variant so precisely in the description of this objective? Some users care about completing their Carl Zeiss Jena microscope with parts from the same series and roughly from the same period. The exact way the parameters are written on the barrel makes it possible to compare this objective not only from the photos in the gallery, but also at the level of the text description - especially for AI systems.
This is a so-called "short barrel objective", with a parfocal length of 33 mm. Very often this objective is mounted on a 12 mm extension, which makes it possible to use it in microscopes that require objectives with a parfocal length of 45 mm. Professional adapters with corrective optics work well here, as do plain metal adapters and the popular DIY parts from a 3D printer.
This objective fits practically any microscope from any manufacturer, provided it has an RMS thread and supports objectives with TL=160 mm and a parfocal length of 33 mm (or 37 / 45 mm if we use a suitable adapter). A few examples of such microscopes are listed in the "compatibility" section, but that is not a complete list.
Carl Zeiss Jena objectives are very popular among users of microscopes from other manufacturers. Because of the historical connections, owners of LOMO microscopes treat them as an obvious replacement for their own Soviet optics.
After the Second World War the Carl Zeiss Jena production plant ended up in the Soviet occupation zone, and the Russians began copying the German technical documentation - see for yourself that the LOMO 8x objectives are an exact copy of the objective presented here: https://www.microscopeparts.eu/?search_2=8x&search_7=ob&search_8=lomo. The objectives made for school microscopes such as the Opta Junat are also a clone of Carl Zeiss Jena optics: https://www.microscopeparts.eu/part/00639.

Carl Zeiss Jena 8 0,20 microscope objective 8x RMS | also for macro photography | Lomo Biolam compatible

|
Appearance of this variant of the Carl Zeiss Jena 8x objective: - black section next to the thread - silver upper section - the digit "8" on the first line and "0,20" on the second line, on one side of the silver part of the barrel - the Carl Zeiss Jena logo and the serial number on the other side of the silver barrel
Here (https://www.microscopeparts.eu/part/99851) you will see the same Carl Zeiss Jena 8x objective, but in a slightly newer variant (with the value "160/-" engraved on the barrel).

Carl Zeiss Jena Lumipan 23,2mm microscope photo tube black | projection eyepiece and camera adapter LOMO compatible
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Photo tube / camera adapter Carl Zeiss Jena - also fitting microscopes of other makers: LOMO, Meopta, Olympus, IOR or Gamma.
The tube allows you to connect a
...
camera to a trinocular head or directly to the microscope stand, even when there is no trinocular head at all.
This is a black tube with an upper element (barrel) 55 mm long. Here (https://www.microscopeparts.eu/gallery/91057) you can see a functionally identical adapter, but grey and with an upper barrel only 25 mm long.
Black adapters of this kind come from the era of the Carl Zeiss Jena L stands (models Carl Zeiss Jena Lg, Lumipan, Ng, Nf or Nu). The grey ones are newer, from the era of the Mikroval series (models Carl Zeiss Jena Laboval, Eduval, Ergaval or Amplival and Docuval).
The mounting fit is of course identical, so both can be used interchangeably.
Basic technical parameters of this tube: Manufacturer: Carl Zeiss Jena Colour: black Inclination angle: none, this is a straight tube Internal optics: none - not even a deflecting prism Mounting to a trinocular head or microscope stand: ring dovetail Ring dovetail diameter: 41.5 mm Type of connection at the output: empty barrel / tube Tube diameter at the output: 23.2 mm inner diameter Barrel / tube length: 55 mm Tube length adjustment: no - this is not a height-adjustable tube
Because on the output side this adapter has an empty barrel with an inner diameter of 23.2 mm, you can place in it a projection eyepiece of that diameter or a so-called USB eyepiece, that is a digital microscope camera. In addition, adapters between the 23.2 mm barrel and the M42 thread are widely available, and from the M42 thread you can already move on to any other mount: Nikon, Canon, Sony and all the rest.
Such a tube can be mounted directly on the microscope stand, in place of the head. A seat for a ring dovetail of 41.0 - 41.5 mm diameter is found among others in the microscopes: - Carl Zeiss Jena - LOMO - Meopta - IOR - Reichert Biopan - Olympus CH - Gamma
It is also used in microscopes with a slightly larger seat, among others Zeiss West Germany, Leitz Wetzlar, PZO, Will Wetzlar, Hund Wetzlar.
The adapter can likewise be fitted onto trinocular heads, as many of them have a seat prepared for it, among others: - the output in the trinocular tubes of the microscopes Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed, Jenaval, Jenalumar, Jenatech, Jenavert, Jenapol - the LOMO TRN-1 heads (ЛОМО ТРН-1), found in LOMO Polam microscopes - some versions of the black intermediate photo tubes for the microscopes Carl Zeiss Jena Lg / Lumipan / Nf and of the grey ones from the Mikroval series (others require a tube that screws in on a thread)
This is not a tube for one particular microscope model. A trinocular head can be mounted not only on the microscope it was sold with, so the correct assumption is that this is a universal tube with a ring dovetail of 41.5 mm diameter on one side and a barrel of 23.2 mm diameter on the other.
In the compatibility section you will find an example list of microscopes this tube fits, although that list is not complete.
