Lomo 40 0,65 P polarisation microscope objective with pol RMS objective adapter
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Lomo Polarizing Microscope Objective. The lens was manufactured at the Progress factory - that's why the lens has a logo other than Lomo.
Perfect external
...
condition and perfect optical condition. It's difficult to find a lens in this condition on the used market.
Manufacturer: Lomo Magnification: 40x Model: 40 0.65 P Numerical Aperture: 0.65 Tube: 160 mm Focal Length: 33 mm Cover Glass: Yes, 0.17 mm Thread: RMS + Pol adapter Info: P = Polarization
This objective is designed for transmitted light work with a cover glass.
The RMS thread objective is mounted on a suitable insert, allowing it to be used with Lomo Polam, Lomo MIN-1 / Lomo MIN-6 / Lomo MIN-8 microscopes. Of course, the objective can be unscrewed and a different objective screwed into the insert.
The Pol adapter also allows you to center the objective lens along the entire optical path - but this requires tools.
Note: I've seen numerous reports claiming this RMS-Pol adapter is compatible with Leitz Wetzlar polarizing microscopes - but I haven't personally verified it.

Lomo MI 95x 1,25 190-P polarization microscope oil objective with pol RMS objective adapter
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Lomo microscope objective for polarization.
Ideal external condition and perfect optical condition. It is not easy to find an objective in this condition on the
...
second-hand market.
Manufacturer: Lomo Magnification: 95x Model: MI 95x 1,25 190-P Numerical Aperture: 1,25 Tube length: 190 mm Focal length: (?) Cover slip: yes, 0,17 mm (?) Thread: RMS + Pol adapter Marking: "P" = Polarization Marking: "MI" = Oil immersion
This objective is for use with transmitted or reflected light with a cover slip (although I am not sure if it definitely requires a cover slip).
This specific item was used with the Lomo Polam P-312 microscope, i.e., with an EPI reflected light illuminator.
The RMS-thread objective is mounted on a suitable sleeve that allows using the objective in Lomo MIN-6 / Lomo MIN-8 / Lomo MIN-1 / Lomo Polam microscopes. Of course, the objective can be unscrewed and another objective can be screwed into the sleeve.
The Pol adapter also allows centering the objective relative to the entire optical path - this requires tools (wrenches / tools).
Info: I have repeatedly seen information stating that this RMS-Pol adapter is compatible with Leitz Wetzlar polarization microscopes - but I have not personally checked this.

Lomo MIN-8 / Polam - rotatable insert with polarization filter and iris diaphragm for the POL microscope condenser | polarizer
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Rotatable insert (Pol slider) with polarizaton filter (polarizer) and iris diaphragm for the microscope condenser of Lomo MIN-8 microscopes and the Polam series.
...
This insert fits condensers used in the following Lomo microscopes: - Polam (all models) - MIN-8 - MIK-1 - MIK-4
and most likely also in other microscopes that use similarly designed condensers. Note - to make sure that this insert fits your condenser, be sure to check the diameter of this element.
Mount diameter: 35 mm
The transmitted light condenser in these microscopes features: - interchangeable upper lenses to obtain the required aperture - a diaphragm located below the upper lens - a slot for inserting a Pol filter insert (the insert may, but does not have to, include an additional iris diaphragm)
In some cases, this insert alone can be used without the condenser - the effect is similar to a condenser with a Pol filter of low N.A. This element is often used by owners of microscopes from other manufacturers to convert their condenser into a polarisation condenser.
Since this element can be removed relatively easily, it is very often missing in microscopes from the secondary market.
IMPORTANT - this is not a separate microscope condenser. It is a component of the condenser, even though it is sometimes used as a substitute for a condenser.

Lomo APO-WI-F 70x1,23 microscope objective | Apochromat, water immersion, phase contrast, cover glass correction collar, RMS 1972
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Microscope objective with RMS thread with 70x magnification, very high numerical aperture, equipped with a correction ring for cover glass thickness, designed for water
...
immersion operation and with a phase contrast ring.
Manufacturer: Lomo Model: APO-WI-F 70x1,23 Magnification: 70x Numerical aperture: 1,23 Correction: Apochromat Tube length: 160 mm Focal length: 33 mm Immersion: yes - water Cover glass: yes - thickness from 0.10 to 0.20 mm Markings: APO = Apochromat, WI = water immersion, F = phase contrast Thread: RMS Year of production: 1972
Note: to work in phase contrast technology you need a Lomo KF-4 condenser (you can see it in the database under number 00653).
This is a professional microscope objective with a very wide range of applications. The main features that make this objective exceptional: - water immersion is preferred by many users over oil immersion - very high numerical aperture, allowing the objective to produce a high resolution image - cover glass thickness correction ring
Standard biological objectives are designed to achieve the best image quality when the specimen is located under a cover glass with a thickness of 0.17 mm (hence the marking on objectives such as 160/0.17). Unfortunately inexpensive cover glasses often do not undergo strict production control and a single package may contain cover glasses with thicknesses of 0.14 mm or 0.19 mm, which reduces observation sharpness. Thanks to the built-in cover glass thickness correction ring (abbreviated CGTCR, CGCC or CGCR) the objective can be adjusted for every specimen so that it operates optimally. This works even when the actual thickness of the cover glass is unknown, because the effect is simply visible and the adjustment can be done "by eye".
Although this objective is a so-called "short" objective, meaning with a focal length of 33 mm, after adding a 12 mm adapter (you can see it in the database under number 99140) it can be used with newer microscopes designed for objectives with a focal length of 45 mm.
The Lomo company produced adapters specifically for these objectives (converters) from RMS thread to M27 thread, which makes them a very attractive option for installation in modern Zeiss Axio series microscopes.

Lomo MIN-6 / MIN-8 - 3x 0,11 polarization microscope objective with Pol adapter
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Lomo microscope objective for polarization.
Manufacturer: Lomo Magnification: 3x Model: 3x 0,11 Numerical Aperture: 0,1 Tube length: (?) Focal
...
length: (?) Cover slip: no Thread: RMS + Pol adapter
This objective is for use with transmitted or reflected light.
This specific item was used with the Lomo MOIN-6 microscope.
The RMS-thread objective is mounted on a suitable sleeve that allows using the objective in Lomo MPD-1 / Lomo MIN-6 / Lomo MIN-8 / Lomo MIN-1 / Lomo Polam microscopes.

Lomo 20 0,40 P polarization microscope objective with pol RMS objective adapter
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Lomo microscope objective for polarization. The objective was manufactured at the Progress factory - therefore it has a different logo than standard Lomo objectives.
...
Manufacturer: Lomo Magnification: 20x Model: 20 0.40 P Numerical aperture: 0.40 Tube length: 160 mm Focal length: 33 mm Cover glass: yes, 0.17 mm Thread: RMS + Pol adapter Info: P = Polarization
This is an objective designed for transmitted light work with a cover glass.
The RMS thread objective is mounted on a dedicated slide-in adapter that allows it to be used in Lomo MIN series and Lomo Polam series microscopes. Of course, the objective can be unscrewed and another objective can be mounted in the adapter.
The objective itself, once removed from the adapter, is a standard objective that can be used in virtually any microscope with an RMS thread. It is a so-called "short objective" (focal length 33 mm). When a 12 mm adapter is added, the total length becomes 45 mm, allowing it to be used with newer microscopes from any manufacturer.
Lomo polarization objectives with RMS thread can be installed in an RMS-M27 adapter and then used in microscopes such as Lomo Biolam M, Lomo Biolam I, Lomo Lumam, or Lomo ML-2. I have also frequently seen such objectives used in Zeiss Axio series microscopes with M27 thread.
The Pol adapter also allows precise centering of the objective relative to the entire optical path - this requires tools (keys / tools).
Info: I have repeatedly seen information stating that this RMS-Pol adapter is compatible with Leitz Wetzlar polarization microscopes - however, I have not personally verified this.
In summary, this objective is dedicated to Lomo MIN-1, MIN-4, MIN-5, MIN-6, MIN-8, Lomo Polam R-113, Polam L-211, Polam L-213, Polam R-311, Polam LMPR microscopes - but it is practically compatible with any microscope from any manufacturer that supports 160 mm objectives.

Lomo Plan 9x 0,20 P polarization microscope objective with pol RMS objective adapter | macro photography
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Lomo microscope objective for polarization. The objective was manufactured at the Progress factory - therefore it has a different logo than standard Lomo objectives.
...
Note - this model of microscope objective is very often used for macro photography and focus stacking. More information on this can be found at the end of this description.
Manufacturer: Lomo Magnification: 9x Model: PLANACHR 9x0.20 P Numerical aperture: 0.20 Optical correction: planachromatic (flat field) Tube length: 160 mm Focal length: 33 mm Cover glass: optional, can be used but is not required Thread: RMS + Pol adapter Info: P = Polarization
The RMS thread objective is mounted on a dedicated slide-in adapter that allows it to be used in Lomo MIN series and Lomo Polam series microscopes. Of course, the objective can be unscrewed and another objective can be mounted into the adapter.
The objective itself, once removed from the adapter, is a standard objective that can be used in virtually any microscope with an RMS thread. It is a so-called "short objective" (focal length 33 mm). Additionally, this objective is very often used for macro photography even without a microscope. This objective does not require a cover glass and works in the "direct-projection" technique, meaning it can be connected directly to a camera without additional optics. This allows achieving a very high magnification scale and great depth of field across the entire image when using focus stacking. The fact that this is a polarization objective (i.e. stress-free optics without internal glass tensions) further improves image quality at high magnifications.

Description of this part for the microscope.
Special diaphragm in holder for the polarizing condenser of the Lomo Polam microscope.

special diaphragms was supplied. The set included phase contrast diaphragms and dark field diaphragms.
Note - I am showing and offering here one single diaphragm in holder - exactly the one visible in the photos. This is a phase contrast diaphragm (phase annulus). The complete set for the Lomo Polam microscope contains 5 diaphragms.
Important note: Such diaphragms in a special holder, supplied as a set of five diaphragms, were an accessory for the Lomo Polam polarizing microscope. These diaphragms are mounted onto the polarizing microscope condenser in order to combine these observation techniques and obtain a phase image in polarized light. Please note that the same condensers can also be used in Lomo MIN series polarizing microscopes (for example Lomo MIN-6 or Lomo MIN-8 models) and in Lomo MIK series infrared microscopes (for example Lomo MIK-4). This means that there is nothing preventing the use of these phase annuli in those microscopes as well.
The newest version of the Lomo Polam microscope, namely the Lomo Polam LMPR model, no longer requires this accessory. The Lomo Polam LMPR already has a special polarizing phase contrast disc condenser (somewhat similar to the Lomo KF-4 condenser).
In the last photo in the gallery you can see a page from the Lomo Polam microscope manual where this element is shown. In the manual it is shown in figure number 6, element number 65. The complete instruction manual for the Lomo Polam microscope is available here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/102512763506243/?multi_permalinks=1858054457952056

Lomo Polam polarizing microscope wooden accessory box No.2

Description of this part for the microscope.
Original wooden box No. 2 (protective and transport case) for storing accessories for the Lomo Polam polarizing microscope.
Lomo Polam polarizing microscopes in
...
their standard configuration were supplied with three wooden boxes: - the main microscope case - a smaller accessory case (Case No. 1) - a larger wooden carrying case for accessories (Case No. 2) The box presented here is Case No. 2. This particular example originally comes from a Lomo Polam L-211 microscope, but it can also be used to store accessories from other Lomo Polam models.
Various names are used on the secondary market for this type of wooden microscope box, including: - wooden accessory box - microscope accessory case - microscope accessory storage case - microscope accessory carrying case - protective case for microscope accessories - wooden storage case for microscope parts - transport case for microscope components - wooden instrument case - fitted wooden case for microscope accessories - wooden carrying case for microscope attachments - storage box for microscope eyepieces and objectives - original microscope accessory case
A millimetre scale is visible in all photographs, but I intentionally do not provide the dimensions of this case in the description, even though this would normally be considered good practice. I simply believe that mainly (or perhaps only?) users of Lomo Polam polarizing microscopes will be interested in it, as they may wish to store original accessories in an original wooden case.
The last photograph shows the original Lomo label with the factory arrangement of the contents of this case. This will definitely help the user place the appropriate components in the correct compartments.

Lomo Polam polarizing microscope wooden accessory box No.1
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Original wooden box No. 1 (protective and transport case) for storing accessories for the Lomo Polam polarizing microscope.
Lomo Polam polarizing microscopes in
...
their standard configuration were supplied with three wooden boxes: - the main microscope case - a smaller accessory case (Case No. 1) - a larger wooden carrying case for accessories (Case No. 2) The box presented here is Case No. 1.

Lomo Polam polarizing microscope condenser matt frosted filter with the swing-out holder
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Matt frosted filter (ground glass diffuser) for the condenser of a Lomo Polam polarizing microscope.
This matt filter acts as a diffuser. It transforms the harsh
...
light from the lamp into homogeneous illumination, makes the lamp filament invisible and ensures that the entire specimen is illuminated evenly.
The filter is mounted on a swing-out holder, which is a separate module installed below the condenser. This allows the entire frosted diffuser to be swung out of the optical path. In this position, for example, illumination according to the Koehler standard can be adjusted.
Users employ various names for the matt filter mounted below the condenser. These include: - matt filter - frosted filter - ground glass diffuser - diffuser - diffuser filter - frost filter - opal diffuser - diffusing screen - condenser diffuser - swing-out diffuser
In the last photograph, an arrow indicates which microscope element is being offered and where it is located in the microscope, allowing this part to be identified unambiguously.
The holder with the frosted diffuser fits every model of the Lomo Polam microscope series (the model designation written in Cyrillic is given in parentheses): - Lomo Polam S-111 (the Cyrillic designation looks like C-111) - Lomo Polam S-112 (C-112) - Lomo Polam R-111 (P-111) - Lomo Polam R-112 (P-112) - Lomo Polam R-113 (P-113) - Lomo Polam L-211 - Lomo Polam L-213 - Lomo Polam LMPR - also Lomo Polam R-312 and Lomo Polam R-311 (the Cyrillic designation is P-312 and P-311), although in these models the matt filter below the condenser is usually not required because these microscopes are intended primarily for reflected light work
The final photograph, in which I indicate with an arrow the mounting position of the diffuser below the condenser, is a poster containing a comparison table of various Lomo Polam microscope models. It will help you easily identify which model of Lomo Polam polarizing microscope you own.

Lomo Polam polarizing microscope camera photo tube for trinocular head | Carl Zeiss Jena compatible
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Photo tube / camera adapter for the Lomo TRN-1 trinocular head used in Lomo Polam microscopes - but also compatible with many other microscopes manufactured by Lomo,
...
Carl Zeiss Jena, PZO, Meopta, Olympus, IOR and others.
This tube makes it possible to connect a camera or photographic camera to a trinocular head or directly to the microscope body, even when no trinocular head is installed.
Originally, this adapter was designed for the Lomo TRN-1 trinocular head. This head was used in Lomo Polam polarizing microscopes from the early 1970s onwards.
Several remarks regarding the model designation of the trinocular head for which this component was originally intended: - the name Lomo TRN-1 is the Latin alphabet designation. In Cyrillic script the model designation appears as TPH (for example model TPH1Y4.2), and this designation is used in the manual for the Lomo Polam L-211 microscope - the vast majority of these trinocular heads are not marked with any model designation - the Envirotools website http://www.envirotools.hu/ateso_fenyu_polarizacios_mikroszkop.htm refers to this trinocular head as HU-POL
In the last photograph, an arrow indicates exactly which component is being offered and where it is located in the Lomo Polam microscope, allowing this part to be identified unambiguously.
Basic technical parameters of this tube: Mounting method to the trinocular head or microscope: 41 mm dovetail mount (this is also the Carl Zeiss Jena standard) Camera mounting method: male M39 thread Alternative camera mounting method: since the M39 thread can be removed, a plain smooth tube with a diameter of 35 mm remains Additional optics: yes, the original optics are installed inside, although they can be removed, leaving only an "empty tube".
This is not "a tube dedicated to a specific microscope model". It is a tube originally mounted on the third port (photo port) of a trinocular head. Since a trinocular head can be installed on microscopes other than the model with which it was originally supplied, this tube can be regarded as a universal accessory.
These technical parameters make it possible to use this tube with virtually any microscope manufactured by: - Lomo (for example Biolam, Polam, MBB-1A and others) - Carl Zeiss Jena (for example Ergaval, Amplival, Jenamed and others) - IOR, Meopta and other manufacturers using a 41 / 41.5 mm dovetail mount
In addition, a 41 mm dovetail tube can easily be mounted on microscopes equipped with a 42 mm or 43 mm opening, for example: - Olympus (for example CH, CH-2, BH-2 models) - PZO (for example Biolar, Studar, MB-30 and others)
The entire list of microscope manufacturers and models given above may also be treated as a list of microscopes compatible with the Lomo TRN-1 trinocular head. Indeed, many examples can be found on the Internet showing this head being used with microscopes made by manufacturers other than Lomo.
Because this tube is equipped with an M39 thread by default, almost any camera or photographic camera can be attached by means of a suitable adapter, for example: - devices with M42 threads - devices with C-mount threads - Nikon, Sony, Olympus and other camera standards
This is therefore a universal photo tube featuring a 41 mm dovetail on one side and either an M39 thread or a 35 mm tube on the other side.
In the image gallery, every photograph includes a millimetre scale, and in addition, the dimensions of the dovetail, tube and thread have been measured with calipers so that compatibility can be determined precisely.

Lomo Polam / MIN-8 polarizing microscope set of 5 condenser phase contrast annuli
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
A set of five special diaphragms in a holder for the polarizing condenser of a Lomo Polam microscope.
A set of five such special diaphragms was supplied together
...
with the Lomo Polam polarizing microscope. The set included phase contrast diaphragms and dark field diaphragms. Here I present and offer a complete set.
Important note: Such diaphragms in a special holder were supplied as a set of five diaphragms as an accessory for the Lomo Polam polarizing microscope. These diaphragms are mounted onto the polarizing microscope condenser to obtain a combination of these techniques and a phase image in polarized light. Please note that the same condensers can also be used in polarizing microscopes of the Lomo MIN series (for example Lomo MIN-6 or Lomo MIN-8 models) and in microscopes designed for infrared light work from the Lomo MIK series (for example Lomo MIK-4). This means that there is nothing preventing the use of these phase rings in those microscopes as well.
The latest version of the Lomo Polam microscope, namely the Lomo Polam LMPR model, no longer requires this accessory. The Lomo Polam LMPR already features a dedicated rotating polarizing phase condenser (somewhat similar to the Lomo KF-4 condenser).
The last photo in the gallery shows a page from the Lomo Polam microscope manual where this microscope part is presented. In the manual it is shown in figure number 6, item number 65.
If you have such a set but it is incomplete - browse this database - you will also find individual diaphragms offered separately - specifically to solve such situations.

Lomo Polam L-213 polarizing microscope СЛ1/4λ mica quarter-wave compensating slider w. diagonal axis | SL 1/4 lambda plate 45 degrees
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
LOMO СЛ1/4λ (Latin alphabet transcription: SL1/4lambda) Quarter-wave plate - standard variant with diagonal axis (45 degrees) for Lomo Polam polarizing
...
microscopes
Lomo microscope compensating slider: Factory marking: СЛ1/4λ Crystal material: Mica Optical retardation: 1/4 lambda (approx. 140 nm) Orientation of optical axes: diagonal, 45 degrees relative to the slider body edge
Dimensions: Total length: 80 mm Insertion length: 60 mm Width: 19 mm Height: 7,5 mm
Quarter-wave compensating slider (quarter-wave plate) introducing a phase shift of 1/4 wavelength. Used for standard compensation, determination of the optical sign of minerals, and analysis of elliptically polarized light.
The axes of the fast ray (Np) and slow ray (Ng) are oriented at 45 degrees relative to the longitudinal axis of the slider. This is the standard configuration used in the vast majority of classic polarizing microscopes, where the accessory slot is parallel to the microscope arm and the vibration axes of the crystal must align precisely with the diagonal of the polarizer and analyzer directions.
A second variant of this slider is also available - of the Sénarmont type, designated by the abbreviation CP-QS (Compensating Plate, Quarter-wave Sénarmont). In the Sénarmont configuration, the crystal axis (Ng) runs parallel to the vibration direction of the polarizer, and the 45-degree effect is enforced by the microscope accessory slot - not by the orientation of the crystal within the body. The Sénarmont variant is intended for specialized LOMO microscope heads with a 45-degree-rotated accessory slot and for precise quantitative measurements of optical retardation in combination with a rotating analyzer and an interference filter (typically 546 nm or 551 nm). Before purchasing, please check the design of your microscope. Using the incorrect variant will cause the crystal axes to misalign with the vibration direction of the polarized light, preventing proper background extinction as well as precise measurements and conoscopic observations.

Description of this part for the microscope.
LOMO СЛ1/4λ (Latin alphabet transcription: SL1/4lambda) Quarter-wave plate - Sénarmont variant (CP-QS - Compensating Plate, Quarter-wave Sénarmont), p

erpendicular/parallel axis - for Lomo Polam polarizing microscopes
Lomo microscope compensating slider: Factory marking: СЛ1/4λ (Latin alphabet transcription: SL1/4lambda) Alternative name: Sénarmont, CP-QS (Compensating Plate, Quarter-wave Sénarmont) Crystal material: Mica Optical retardation: 1/4 lambda (approx. 140 nm) Orientation of optical axes: perpendicular and parallel to the slider body edge
Dimensions: Total length: 80 mm Insertion length: 60 mm Width: 19 mm Height: 7,5 mm
Quarter-wave compensating slider of the Sénarmont type (Sénarmont quarter-wave plate) introducing a phase shift of 1/4 wavelength. Unlike the standard quarter-wave plate, in the Sénarmont configuration the crystal axis (Ng) runs parallel to the vibration direction of the polarizer, and the 45-degree effect is enforced by the microscope accessory slot - not by the orientation of the crystal within the body. Used for precise quantitative measurements of optical retardation, determination of the optical sign of minerals, and analysis of elliptically polarized light - in combination with a rotating analyzer and an interference filter (typically 546 nm or 551 nm).
The axes of the fast ray (Np) and slow ray (Ng) are oriented parallel and perpendicular to the edges of the slider body. This arrangement is used in specific types of LOMO microscope heads or with a non-standard (rotated by 45 degrees) polarizer setup, in order to achieve the correct interference effect.
A first variant of this slider is also available - standard quarter-wave plate СЛ1/4λ (Latin alphabet transcription: SL1/4lambda) with diagonal axis (45 degrees), suitable for the vast majority of classic polarizing microscopes with a standard accessory slot. Before purchasing, please check the design of your microscope. Using the incorrect variant will cause the crystal axes to misalign with the vibration direction of the polarized light, preventing proper background extinction as well as precise measurements and conoscopic observations.

Lomo Polam L-211 / L-213 polarized microscope single objective holder | Polam LMPR compatible pincer holder
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
The interchangeable single objective holder for Lomo Polam series polarizing microscopes allows a single objective to be installed in place of the standard objective
...
nosepiece.
This holder is compatible with the following polarizing microscopes: - Lomo Polam L-211 - Lomo Polam L-213 - Lomo Polam LMPR
The microscope models listed above are equipped with a removable 5-position objective nosepiece that can be removed and replaced with this single objective holder. A single-objective configuration has long been a standard solution in polarizing microscopy, and many users still prefer it today.
Simpler models, such as the Lomo Polam C-111 (Latin transcription S-111) and P-111 (Latin transcription R-111), do not have a removable objective nosepiece. Therefore, this holder is not compatible with those models.
Important: The objective is not screwed directly into this holder. This holder does not have an RMS thread. It accepts objectives that have already been mounted in dedicated centering adapters. These adapters provide the precise objective centering required for polarizing microscopy.
The manufacturer illustrates this holder in Figure 4 of the instruction manual (item 47) and refers to it as щипцовое устройство (shchipcovoe ustrojstvo - pincer device).
Several names are commonly used for this component in documentation and among microscope users, including: - single objective holder - single objective mount - objective holder - objective clamp - objective carrier - pincer holder - single objective nosepiece - objective socket - the English term "single objective microscope nosepiece" is very commonly used, even though it is technically associated with a revolving nosepiece
If you need additional comparison photographs, this database also contains: - the 5-position objective nosepiece for this microscope model (part number 00798) - the centering adapter for a single RMS objective (supplied together with the objective as part number 00772)

Lomo Polam R-113 / P-113 polarizing microscope body | Pol-objective holder and coarse- and fine focus
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Microscope body of the Lomo Polam R-113 polarizing microscope (the original Cyrillic designation is ЛОМО Полам Р-113).
The body includes: - the base with the
...
illuminator mount - the arm containing the coarse focus (macro movement) and coaxial fine focus (micro movement) mechanism - a pincer holder (single objective holder) for a polarizing microscope objective - the microscope head mount – however, in Lomo Polam microscopes this position is first occupied by the intermediate tube with the polarization analyzer, and only then by the microscope head
The complete Lomo Polam R-113 / P-113 microscope body may be useful in the following situations: - if you are building your own microscope by purchasing individual parts to assemble a configuration that fully meets your requirements - if you own a Lomo Polam microscope but its body is heavily worn, damaged or incomplete, for example with defective coarse/fine focus controls, a damaged pincer objective holder or other mechanical problems
Lomo Polam microscopes are built around a standardized modular design. For example: - components such as the stage holder, condenser holder, polarizing intermediate tube, monocular head or trinocular photo head from other Polam models (e.g. L-211 or L-213) are compatible with the R-113 / P-113 body - the R-113 body can also be installed on other, including newer, Lomo Polam models, making it an inexpensive way to repair a microscope with a defective coarse/fine focus mechanism

Lomo Polam L-211 polarizing microscope body with objective revolver holder and coarse- and fine focus
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
Body of the Lomo Polam L-211 polarizing microscope (the original Cyrillic designation is ЛОМО Полам Л-211).
The body includes: - the base with a mounting point
...
for the large illuminator attached to the rear of the microscope - a built-in right-angle mirror in the base that redirects the light beam. This mirror can be centered using two adjustment screws located on the front of the microscope base - the focusing block with coarse focus (macro movement) and coaxial fine focus (micro movement) - a mount for either the single objective holder (pincer holder) or the 5-position polarizing objective nosepiece - the microscope head mounting point – however, in Lomo Polam microscopes a polarizing intermediate tube with the analyzer is mounted here first, followed by the microscope head
The complete body of the Lomo Polam L-211 microscope may be useful in the following situations: - if you are building your own microscope by purchasing individual components to assemble a configuration that perfectly matches your requirements - if you own a Lomo Polam microscope whose body is in very poor condition, damaged or incomplete, for example with non-functioning focusing controls, a damaged illuminator mount or other mechanical problems
Since this database includes both the body of the Lomo Polam R-113 (Полам Р-113) and the Lomo Polam L-211 (Полам Л-211), here is a brief summary of the differences between them: - the Lomo Polam R-113 has no built-in illumination components in the base, only an opening for a mirror or an external light source - the Lomo Polam L-211 has a built-in right-angle mirror in the base that redirects light from the rear illuminator vertically upward, and it also provides a mounting point for the large rear illuminator - the Lomo Polam R-113 has a permanently installed single objective holder (pincer holder) for a polarizing objective - the Lomo Polam L-211, on the other hand, has an interchangeable mount that accepts either a single objective holder (pincer holder) or a 5-position polarizing objective nosepiece
Lomo Polam microscopes feature a standardized modular design, which means, for example: - components such as the microscope stage holder, condenser holder, polarizing intermediate tube, monocular head or trinocular photo head from other Polam microscope models (e.g. R-113, R-211 or L-213) are compatible with this L-211 body - this L-211 body can also be installed on other Lomo Polam models, including older ones, making it an inexpensive way to upgrade an older Polam microscope, for example one with a damaged coarse/fine focusing block - another interesting option is replacing only the base in order to equip simpler Lomo Polam microscopes with the powerful rear-mounted illuminator
An amusing curiosity. Users of Lomo Polam microscopes, especially those unfamiliar with the Cyrillic alphabet, sometimes misread the model designation of the Lomo Polam L-211. - the original Cyrillic designation is: Л-211 - many users mistake the letter "Л" (L) for the letter "П" (P) because they have a very similar appearance in Cyrillic - as a result, they incorrectly read the model designation as Lomo Polam P-211 - the funny part is that there actually is a microscope model called "ЛОМО Полам Р-211" – however, the Cyrillic letter "Р" corresponds to the Latin letter "R", which makes the confusion even greater

Lomo Polam L-213 / R-113 PLAN 25x0,50 P polarizing microscope objective with Pol iris diaphragm
|
|
Description of this part for the microscope.
PLAN achromatic polarizing microscope objective Lomo PLAN 25x0.50 P with iris diaphragm for Lomo Polam series polarizing microscopes.
Basic par
...
ameters: Manufacturer: Lomo Model: PLAN 25x0.50 P Original designation: ЛОМО ПЛАН 25х0,50 П Magnification: 25x Numerical aperture N.A.: 0.50 Tube length: 160 mm Cover glass: yes, 0.17 mm thickness Immersion oil: no – this is a dry objective Focal length: 45 mm Thread type: RMS Additional designation: P (Cyrillic: П) indicates that this objective is designed for use with polarized light Special features: built-in iris diaphragm Year of manufacture: 1976
This objective has a standard RMS thread and TL=160 mm, which means it can be used with the vast majority of microscopes from virtually any manufacturer, including Olympus, Zeiss, Nikon, PZO, Carl Zeiss Jena, Reichert, Wild and many others.
The built-in iris diaphragm allows, among other things, precise centering of the objective, because in a polarizing microscope the following diaphragms may operate simultaneously: - field diaphragm in the illuminator - aperture diaphragm (or two aperture diaphragms) in the condenser - iris diaphragm in the microscope objective - iris diaphragm in the eyepiece head and accurate centering of all of them relative to each other is very important in polarized-light observations.
Objectives marked "P" / "Pol" feature a special construction in which the lenses are mounted and cemented in a way that prevents mechanical stress. They can be used both for conventional brightfield microscopy and for observations in polarized light.
