At the same time, it provides a holder for 32 mm round filters. The video available in the gallery also demonstrates how a filter is inserted into this holder.

The sliding iris diaphragm mounted beneath the microscope condenser allows oblique illumination to be set, producing a three-dimensional image with enhanced contrast of transparent specimens (such as unstained cells). The resulting image is similar to differential interference contrast (DIC).

1. It fastens the stage to the stage holder - that is, indirectly to the microscope stand. This ring has a groove for the spring screw mounted centrally in that holder, as well as two cut-outs at the sides - for the centring screws. It is not, however, a dovetail - in Carl Zeiss Jena L-Stativ microscopes the stage is mounted on a wide ring.
2. Since it is a sliding ring, it is precisely this part that makes it possible to rotate the stage all the way around, even though this is not a polarizing stage.

This is a service part for the repair of a stage in which exactly this element has been damaged. It is not a complete microscope stage.

This ring contains a screw that makes it possible to lock the position, that is, to press the ring tight so that it does not rotate. This screw very often bends completely (for example during transport) or even breaks off. Olympus CHK / CH / CH-2 microscope models were supplied with a square stage that does not include an integrated XY mechanical stage for precise specimen movement. Such a mechanism is a separate (optional) accessory mounted to the side of the stage, and this is exactly the accessory shown and offered here.

Originally, this mechanical stage attachment was used on the Olympus CHK microscope. I have personally also installed it on Olympus CH and Olympus CH-2 microscopes, and it is fully compatible with both models.

If CH and CH-2 microscopes were originally supplied with an XY mechanical stage, they used the Olympus CH-MVR attachment, but this CHK version fits as well.

In addition, this XY mechanism is compatible with other microscopes provided that the stage thickness is between 10 mm and 12 mm. I have personally verified compatibility with the stages of the following microscopes:

- Motic SFC100

At magnifications above 400×, manually moving the microscope slide becomes very difficult. This is exactly why XY mechanical stage attachments are used, allowing the specimen to be moved with great precision at magnifications such as 600× or 1000× using oil immersion.

Due to their very high quality, these eyepieces are often used together with microscopes from other manufacturers, especially when Carl Zeiss Jena Planachromat objectives are installed.

Important: these eyepieces can be used both with finite tube microscopes (e.g. 160 mm) and infinity-corrected microscopes. This means that they can be used, for example, both on a Carl Zeiss Jena Amplival microscope and on a Carl Zeiss Jena NU-2 microscope.

Note - in my opinion, eyepieces with such a high magnification are recommended rather for "inspection" than for continuous work. I deliberately write "I recommend" because this is my personal opinion based on practical use and not on the manufacturer's documentation.
An eyepiece magnification of 20x should rather be treated as a zoom without revealing additional details (the resolution is not increased). This is important, for example, in heads with built-in magnification (e.g. Carl Zeiss Jena heads with built-in magnification of 1.5x or 1.6x) - when working with a 100x oil immersion objective, we theoretically obtain 100*1.5*20 = 3000x, while physics does not allow the human eye to magnify visible light beyond approximately 1250x - therefore this is a so-called "empty magnification".

- the semi-plan achromatic correction is "almost flat" - it is no longer an achromat, but not yet a plan achromat
- this objective can be used in brightfield, but phase contrast operation requires a compatible phase contrast condenser or a slide (slider) with a phase ring diaphragm

This tube makes it possible to connect a camera or photographic camera to a trinocular head or directly to the microscope body, even when no trinocular head is installed.

Originally, this adapter was designed for the Lomo TRN-1 trinocular head. This head was used in Lomo Polam polarizing microscopes from the early 1970s onwards.

Several remarks regarding the model designation of the trinocular head for which this component was originally intended:
- the name Lomo TRN-1 is the Latin alphabet designation. In Cyrillic script the model designation appears as TPH (for example model TPH1Y4.2), and this designation is used in the manual for the Lomo Polam L-211 microscope
- the vast majority of these trinocular heads are not marked with any model designation

This iris diaphragm module is mechanically mounted to the bottom of the panchromatic condenser.

In Carl Zeiss Jena panchromatic condensers, the diaphragm is designed as a detachable module because it can be removed and replaced, for example, with a phase contrast module or a polarization module. Precisely because this microscope part can be detached, it is often missing from condensers available on the secondary market - over the years it simply gets lost.

Interestingly, this microscope part is very often modified. When users do not have a phase contrast module or a polarization module, they frequently insert polarizing film or custom-made phase rings into the aperture diaphragm module and obtain the functionality they need through DIY modifications.

It is very important to note that the internal power supply used in Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed microscopes converts 220-240V mains voltage to 6V with a maximum power output of 25W. This condenser is often used as a "parts donor" for own DIY projects, for example:
- the Apl. 1.4 lens is often used to modify (upgrade) condensers with a lower numerical aperture N.A. in various microscopes
- the darkfield lens is very often used to build a standalone cardioid condenser
- the iris diaphragm has a very wide range of applications

and these microscopes differ from each other, among other things, by different arms. The arm from the Amplival model has the simplest construction.

By owning different arms and one microscope - you can swap them according to your needs and use different functionalities, as if you had two microscope models.

This element consists of the following components:
- fixing screw securing the arm to the microscope body
- holder enabling the mounting of components with a 41 mm mounting diameter (e.g. binocular head)
- fixing screw securing this component (e.g. head). This element is very often damaged.

Replacement of the condenser in a Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed-2 microscope may be necessary:
- when the upper lens becomes damaged, for example by becoming cloudy due to exposure to various chemical reagents (common in fluorescence applications)

Mechanically, this condenser is a "flip-out" design and is mounted in a metal frame together with a lever used to rotate it in order to obtain one of two operating modes: low or high numerical aperture N.A. This lever extends outside the microscope housing so that the user can operate it.

The complete module is mounted underneath the microscope stage by attaching the entire condenser assembly from below with four screws. This condenser does not contain an iris diaphragm because, in Jenamed microscopes, it is a separate component mounted beneath the condenser.

In the Carl Zeiss Jena Jenamed Histology microscope, this condenser is not used together with the wide-field lens that is installed beneath the condenser in other Jenamed models (part Si10 CZ 2711-1). In the Jenamed Histology model, a polarizer is installed in this position instead.

This opening is located in the cover of the filter wheel - illustrating further relationships between successive elements of the light path.
